Looking Forward to 2025
Even with the heroic efforts by our incredible volunteer trail team, we had to claim defeat to Mother Nature. The incessant warm weather was never ending, making it too warm to even make enough snow for the race. We were, however, able to scrape together enough snow to make a 1k loop to hold the Miniloppet so we are happy that kids were able to get on their skis.
All of the other non-skiing events still took place. Wednesday was BINGO at Kev’s Depot where we had a terrific turnout. The annual Taste of Vasaloppet Craft Beverage Tasting event featuring local wine, beer, cider, and mead was on Thursday at the Grand Event Center, again with a great turnout. Attendees were also able to munch on Emma’s Pizza which was for sale by the slice.
The Vasaloppet Art Show was Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, where local talented artists showcased their Beautiful and inspirational works. Friday was extra special with renown artist Adam Swanson doing a tour of the exhibit.
MAYRA held their annual Pasta Dinner fundraiser at Kev’s Depot where the community came out to support them and fill their bellies with delicious pasta. Race or no race, there is always a reason to have a party so that’s what we did at the Crystal featuring local artists The Groove. Saturday Dr. Quamba returned home to host the Vasa Radio Hour at the Paradise Theater.
While we definitely missed having the race this year, we still had the opportunity to celebrate with our beloved Community of Mora. Our hearts are full as we leave this warm, dry race behind and look forward to 2025. Happy Trails to you.
