Nordic Center building now open

The Nordic Center building is now open. However, due to COVID, the building is restricted to a maximum of 6 people. The wax room is also available but limited to one person or multiple people if they are from the same family. Nordic Center trails are now groomed after the snowfall during the past several days. Several area, like the Ridge Trail and Bowling Alley, will be groomed later on Saturday.

Vasaloppet online fundraiser underway

Register bid, browse auction items, and a Cash donation option 

The Vasaloppet online fundraiser opened Saturday morning with flurry of bidding. Bidders face numerous choices; over 125 items are listed on auction. The Online auction runs through noon next Saturday, Jan. 23. The online fundraising event takes the place of the traditional in-person annual Vasaloppet banquet and fundraiser, which was cancelled due to the pandemic. Register to bid here.

Moraloppet registration now open

Online registration for the Feb. 6 Moraloppet Ski for the Cause is now open. Register here.

The Moraloppet offers a choice of 21km and 10.5km races as well as a 5km tour and proceeds go to the Susan Love  Foundation for great cancer research.

Besides individual race registrations, teams are invited to participate and persons who are not interested in skiing may  make donations.

Miniloppet moved to Saturday, Feb. 6

The annual Miniloppet children’s race has been moved to Saturday, Feb. 6 due to Covid restriction on Vasaloppet race weekend. The race will start at 1:30 pm and the start and finish will at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center. The race offers options of a 7km, 4km, and 1.5 km races. The race is not timed and each participants receives a race bib and completion medal. Please note that because of Covid safety concerns registration is available only online this year. 2021 Vasaloppet Virtual Event Option

Ski the race at your convenience, on the trails of your choice, anytime between Jan. 30 – Feb. 14

Skiers, who may be uncomfortable participating in the Vasaloppet USA in-person race due to COVID-19, can now sign-up for the 2021 Vasaloppet Virtual Event.
The Vasaloppet Virtual Event allows skiers:
  • the convenience of skiing the race at any time between January 30th and February 14th
  • the flexibility to ski any ski trail they choose–including the Nordic Center trails in Mora. Note: The Nordic Center Trails are not available for the virtual race Feb.12-14
  • receive the official 2021 Vasaloppet USA race bib by mail. (Register early so you can wear it when you ski!).
  • receive credit for completing the 2021 Vasaloppet USA ski race and receive their completion medal by mail.
  • Choose among all of our race distances including: the Vasa freestyle 50 km; the Dala freestyle 35 km,the Classic 44 km classic only or the Bell Ringer 13 km freestyle.
Here’s how it works:
  1. Register online right here for the virtual race of your choice
  2. We will mail to you your ski bib, finishers medal, and other instructions
  3. Ski your race in the allotted time frame, keeping track of your time on the course
  4. When you’ve completed your ski race, email your time to us at information@vasaloppet.us and we will enter it into the official 2021 race results
  5. Pat yourself on the back and celebrate a job well done!
Please note that virtual skiers are not eligible to earn Dala Horse trophies, so we thank you for your understanding.
For skiers who have already registered to ski in person here in Mora on February 13th and 14th, but would like to change to the virtual option, this too can be accommodated. Simply email the Vasaloppet office at information@vasaloppet.us with your request and we will happliy make the switch for you. Please be aware that once you have transferred to the virtual race, you will not be able to switch back to the in-person race. Transfers from the Virtual Race to the In-Person race are not allowed.
