First Chance Ski Race
Get ready for the ski season with the first ski race of the year.
Ring in the New Year in Mora, Minnesota!
The First Chance ski race is held the first Saturday of January every year, at the Nordic Ski Center in Mora. It is a fun way to celebrate the New Year and to get ready for the upcoming ski races throughout the upper Midwest.
- Saturday, January 3, 2026
- Two distance options: 5km or 10km
- Freestyle ski race with tracks for classic skiers

11:30 am: check in, bib pick up & registration is open at the Nordic Center garage (401 Nordic Center Drive, Mora, MN)

1 pm - 10k race start (one 10k loop)

2 pm - 5k race starts (one 5k loop)
- Prizes are awarded to the top 3 men and top 3 women finishers for each race
- Registration is $40 ($20 for 18yrs & under)
