The Snake River watershed reacts very quickly to rainfall so the water levels listed can rise very quickly, but the minimum water level you want to see for race day is 2.75 feet.  Also, this year’s snowfall and late spring may have a positive affect on river levels come the first Saturday in May.  Now that the snow has melted quickly during the warm weather, rain would be good to receive before race day.

Race organizers have determined the river is not canoeable if the water level is 2.5 feet or less. The race will move to Knife Lake if the level is less than 2.75 feet.

The Snake River watershed reacts very quickly to rainfall so the water levels listed can rise very quickly, but the minimum water level you want to see for race day is 2.75 feet. Also, don’t worry about the lack of snowfall this winter: spring snow melt has no affect on river levels come the first Saturday in May.

Race organizers have determined the river is not canoeable if the water level is 2.5 feet or less. The race will move to Knife Lake if the level is less than 2.75 feet.
