Race Schedule Saturday 2/20 – Sunday 2/21

The trails are groomed and beautiful, the weather forecast is looking beautiful, and the Community of Mora is ready to go. We have also finalized the race distances on the trails for all of the races. Here is the schedule and distances for this weekend:

Ski trails close to public skiing for course preparations and weekend races


The Vasa 47 km Freestyle- staring 8:20 am – 9:05 am in downtown Mora

The Dala 32 km Freestyle – starting at 12:20 pm – 1:05 am in downtown Mora

Miniloppet Children’s ski race – starting at 1:30 pm at the Mora Elementary School – See COMPLETE DETAILS about Miniloppet race


The Classic 41 km classic-style – staring 8:20 am – 9:05 am in downtown Mora

The Classic 21 km classic-style – starting 8:30 am – 9:05 in downtown Mora

The Bell Ringer 14 km Freestyle – starting 12:30 pm – 1:05pm in downtown Mora

There is still time to REGISTER HERE for this year’s race; in-person race registration is open through 9pm Friday 2/29. Virtual race registration is open through March 6th (must complete your virtual race by March 7th.

In-person skiers may switch to virtual ski race at anytime. Just contact the Vasaloppet office at to make the switch.

Due to the extremely cold weather forecast for this coming weekend Feb 13-14, combined with strict COVID restrictions, the in-person ski race has been postponed one week to Feb 20-21

For the safety of all skiers, volunteers, and organizers, the Vasaloppet USA Board of Directors have made the decision to postpone the ski race one week from February 13-14 to February 20-21.
If you have registered for any of the in-person ski races originally scheduled for this coming weekend, your registration will be automatically transferred to the weekend of Feb. 20-21. The race day schedule will remain the same:

Saturday February 20th

The Vasa 50 km Freestyle (starting at 8:20 am – 9:05 am in downtown Mora)
The Dala 34 km Freestyle (starting at 12:20 pm – 1:05 pm in downtown Mora)
Miniloppet Children’s Ski Race (starting at 1:30pm at Mora Elementary School)

Sunday February 21st

The Classic 44 km Classic-style (starting at 8:20 am – 9:05 am)
20 km Sunday Classic, classic-style (starting at 8:30 am – 9:05 am)
The Bell Ringer 13 km Freestyle (starting at 12:30 pm – 1:05 pm)
The virtual ski option has been extended to March 7th. All current in-person registered skiers may switch to the virtual option at any time. The deadline to switch from in-person to the virtual option is Thursday 2/18. All virtual skiers now have until March 7th to complete their race and report their ski race time to the Vasaloppet office.
In-person ski race registration has also been extended to 9pm on Friday 2/19.
Vasaloppet USA has prepared a comprehensive COVID preparedness plan for the in-person race, to assure the health and safety of all skiers, volunteers, and organizers.
We understand that this schedule change may not work for everyone, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. If you need to make any changes to your registration, please contact the Vasaloppet USA office with questions.

SPECIAL NOTE: The Moraloppet Ski for the Cause which was rescheduled to 2/20, will now be rescheduled again. The new date is yet to be determined, so stay tuned for more information soon.

2021 Vasaloppet Virtual Event Option

Ski the race at your convenience, on the trails of your choice, anytime between Jan. 30 – March 7th

Skiers, who may be uncomfortable participating in the Vasaloppet USA in-person race due to COVID-19, can now sign-up for the 2021 Vasaloppet Virtual Event.
The Vasaloppet Virtual Event allows skiers:
  • the convenience of skiing the race at any time between January 30th and February 14th
  • the flexibility to ski any ski trail they choose–including the Nordic Center trails in Mora. Note: The Nordic Center Trails are not available for the virtual race during the Vasaloppet races on February 18 – 21st
  • receive the official 2021¬†Vasaloppet USA race bib by mail. (Register early so you can wear it when you ski!).
  • receive credit for completing the 2021 Vasaloppet USA ski race and receive their completion medal by mail.
  • Choose among all of our race distances including: the Vasa freestyle 47 km; the Dala freestyle 37 km,the Classic 43 km classic only or the Bell Ringer 15 km freestyle.
Here’s how it works:
  1. Register online right here for the virtual race of your choice
  2. We will mail to you your ski bib, finishers medal, and other instructions
  3. Ski your race in the allotted time frame, keeping track of your time on the course
  4. When you’ve completed your ski race, email your time to us at and we will enter it into the official 2021 race results
  5. Pat yourself on the back and celebrate a job well done!
Please note that virtual skiers are not eligible to earn Dala Horse trophies, so we thank you for your understanding.
For skiers who have already registered to ski in person here in Mora on February 13th and 14th, but would like to change to the virtual option, this too can be accommodated. Simply email the Vasaloppet office at with your request and we will happliy make the switch for you. Please be aware that once you have transferred to the virtual race, you will not be able to switch back to the in-person race. Transfers from the Virtual Race to the In-Person race are not allowed.
