Gerdin at Finish line in Sweden

Chip Gerdin, Vasaloppet volunteer and assistant Mora high school ski coach, was on the big screen being interviewed at the finish line after he completed the Vasaloppet Sweden open track 90km race Monday. His time was 7:00.39.

Vasaloppet Skijoring Race


Sunday, Feb. 10, 11am


Start time/location: The Vasaloppet Skijor race will start at 11am on lake Mora, a few blocks north of Mora’s downtown. The skiers and their dogs will head up the Vasaloppet Ski Trail to the Vasaloppet Nordic Center trail system, returning to downtown Mora for a Main Street finish.

Seeding Information: Registration for the Skijoring races must be completed online by Thursday, February 7 or postmarked by Tuesday, February 5 to be considered for race seeding.A

Awards & Packet Pick-up:Packet pickup will be open at 8:00am in the Celebration Tent located at the finish area on Union Street.

Dala horses and cash prizes are awarded to the top three female and top 3 male finishers with single dog teams in the 10K race. Dala horses are awarded to the top 3 overall finishers in the 4K race. Awards for the Skijoring races will begin at noon outside the Vasaloppet Headquarters building weather permitting. Alternatively they will be held in the Celebration Tent.

Canoe race follows quick after ski season

There’s plenty of skiing left in the 2019 ski season, but quickly following the last stride on the ski trail is the Snack River Canoe Race on May 4.

This race is part of the Classic Series and is one of largest canoe events in the state. The course is about 24 kilometers long. Mean gradient throughout the course is 5 feet per mile. Rapids are generally all Class I. Check out details under the canoe race tab. Online registration will be available soon.
