Vasaloppet Skier Development Fund established in honor of Tom Giese

A skier development fund has been established in honor of Tom Giese, a former Vasaloppet board member and president; Mora high school Nordic ski coach, and a long time advocate of cross country skiing. Tom passed away on August 9 at age 73.

“Be a skier!” is one of the often-remembered sayings that is associated with memories of Tom. He instilled a work ethic in everyone he coached over the years that allowed them to be the best in all aspects of life. His love of skiing and coaching was an important part of his life and he will leave a lasting memory with everyone that knew him that is much bigger than skiing alone.
