“The Mora” course at Nordic Center Trail system

“The Mora” course approximately 17 km loop at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center trail system looking south towards downtown Mora start and finish. The Classic race will follow a cut-off loop (not shown).¬†

Preparations for “The Mora” course using Nordic Center trails is progressing very well in advance of the Vasaloppet ski
race Feb. 10-11. Currently there are over 7lm of manufactured snow trails that offer great skate and classic skiing.

Lack of sufficient snow continues on the Vasaloppet point to point course. Race officials estimate that at least 18 inches or more of additional snowfall will be needed to have any chance of using that course.

This week snow has been hauled and the trail prepared from the Nordic Center to Mora Lake. Next the northwest portion of the course will receive manufactured snow to complete “The Mora Course.

Getting snow from up there out to the trails

Vasaloppet board member Luke Olen pushes snow with the race’s Pisten Bully down to the ground where it can be loaded into snow spreaders and out to the trails. Snowmaking in the very cold temperatures have helped create huge piles of ¬†snow each day this past week.
