Ski Moraloppet and help breast cancer research

Trail conditions and temperatures look to be near perfect for Saturday’s Feb. 1st Moraloppet Ski for the Cause. Proceeds from the race go toward the Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation for breast cancer.

Skiers can choose to ski either a 21km race or a 10.5km race or a 5km tour. The course is on portions of the Vasaloppet race course at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center and is part of the Vasaloppet Winter Race Series.

The registration fee is $25. Skiers can register online here or on race day at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center.

Lanternloppet Saturday, Jan. 25

The annual Lanternloppet hosted by the Mora Ski Club will be held at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center beginning at dusk Saturday, January 25.

There’s plenty of lanterns to light your way throughout the evening. There’s also bonfires in several locations for roasting brats and ¬†marshmallows.

The event is splendored the the Mora Ski Club. The event is free of charge, but donations to the club are welcomed.

Vasaloppet adds 20km Classic to schedule

Vasaloppet USA’s board of directors have added a 20km Classic Race to the 2020 race event schedule. The Classic 2okm will be held on Sunday, February 9 beginning at 8:30 am. The race will start and finish in downtown Mora. Awards will go to the top three male and female finishers.¬†Registration is $25. The Classic 20km will be followed by the Fat Tire, Skijoring and Miniloppet events on Sunday. REGISTER

Snowmaking preparations for 2020 season underway
Register early and save on entry fees

Volunteers are working to finish the final touches on the second snowmaking depot, which is located on the northern end of the Vasaloppet trail system. The depot will greatly reduce the time it takes to haul snow to the northern portion of the trail system. The Vasaloppet purchased a second snowmaker last year and operated both snow machines at the Nordic Center. This year, one will be moved the new snow depot. Register here.
